Research Session Format

The Second Plenary Conference Tensions of Europe Network
Lappeenranta, Finland
May 2006

The structure of research sessions aims at extended discussion of the individual papers as well as the common themes in the session and the conference as a whole. Papers will be precirculated to all participants to read before the conference. Researchers will be given 5-10 minutes to introduce their work and are encouraged to prepare power point presentations. Commentators will be given 10-15 minutes for their prepared remarks that bridge the individual papers and stimulate discussion

Round Table Formats

The Second Plenary Conference Tensions of Europe Network
Lappeenranta, Finland
May 2006

Round table sessions will illuminate the conference theme, in general, by stimulating debate. The individual round tables will vary in the presentation of brief position pieces. While some will present them orally during the session, others will precirculate short position pieces to be read beforehand. Please consult the conference CD for pre-circulated texts. The organizers may decide either to limit the debate to invited roundtable discussants or to allow the audience to ask questions and enter the discussion.
