Due to being a member of the LIITO technology program of Tekes, the researchers of the Global Network Management project were invited to a seminar at Tampere 15th of March 2007.
The culmination of the one-day seminar wrapped around interactive discussions in small groups, in which companies and researchers with similar interests and projects presented their views on how to develop the implementation of the ongoing research projects. Also Global Network Management members presented their viewpoints. The presentation slides can be downloaded from here. As a greatest outcome of the seminar, the event linked researchers of similar ongoing projects from different universities and hopefully gave ideas how to join forces in the future cooperation.
Overall, a consensus seems to be about the challenging task of the researchers in such practical-oriented projects, such is GNM for instance. On one hand, academic publications and rigorous research is required from the part of the universities. On the other hand, researchers should also be able to deliver the research results to companies in an effective manner. Further, research projects should have an influence on the society and the industries on more general level. In order to respond to these challenges, the Global Network Management research team encourages for organizing more similar events where researchers can share results and are able to plan together how to improve their performance.
